Erik Rosenius studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and Stockholm University of the Arts (formerly the University College of Opera), as well as at the opera studio of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin. During his time there, he performed in several roles under conductors including Daniel Barenboim and Zubin Mehta. Erik Rosenius is a regular soloist at Sweden’s leading opera houses. At the Royal Swedish Opera, he has among other roles performed the title role in Le nozze di Figaro with Music Director Alan Gilbert, as well as Sparafucile in Rigoletto under John Fiore. At the Gothenburg Opera, he has appeared as the Hermit in Der Freischütz under Francesco Angelico, and at Folkoperan as King Clistene in L’Olimpiade under Peter Spissky. In spring 2027, he will make his debut as Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte under Dirk Kaftan at Malmö Opera. Erik is an alumnus of Barbara Hannigan’s Equilibrium Young Artists program and, under her direction, has performed roles including Father Truelove in The Rake’s Progress on tour in Europe. He has also appeared as bass soloist in Mozart’s Requiem with the Münchner Philharmoniker under Hannigan’s direction. He has performed that work with several orchestras, including the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra under Trevor Pinnock. During recent summers, Erik has performed at several of Sweden’s summer opera festivals and venues. His roles have included Leporello in Don Giovanni at Confidencen under Peter Spissky, Banco in Macbeth at Läckö Castle under Kim Phipps, and Frank in Die Fledermaus at Vattnäs Concert Hall under Matthew Rhodes. His repertoire encompasses a wide range of bass roles in both the opera and oratorio repertoire, and he has a particular interest in art song.
