Luca Gliozzi conducts the Rokka Symphony Orchestra

Unseen Symphonies Conductor: Luca Gliozzi Rokka Symphony Orchestra On the night of the August full moon — the pinnacle of the Giortes Rokkas — the Rokka Symphony Orchestra presents a program highlighting the musical traditions of Scandinavia and Greece, featuring works that bridge these two cultural heritages in an unseen symphony of coexistence, hope, peace, and creation.

Under the baton of Luca Gliozzi, the repertoire includes compositions by Verdi, Stenhammar, and Dvořák. In a moment of profound symbolism, renowned Greek pianist Konstantinos Papadakis will perform as soloist in the Piano Concerto No. 1 by Mikis Theodorakis — a work with a deep connection to Sweden — reinterpreted in this intercultural musical encounter, and especially meaningful during 2025, the Year of Mikis Theodorakis.

This evening, expected to draw thousands of visitors once again to the archaeological site of Rokka, will be a milestone for Giortes Rokkas, signaling the beginning of an artistic initiative in Crete’s heartland that aims to reshape the region’s cultural landscape.

The dramatic gorge setting, lush with vegetation, the warmth and hospitality of the local residents, their traditional offerings, and the mystic, ritualistic character of the ascent to the concert site all contribute to transforming this classical music event into a sensory experience — one that reaffirms the singularity of Giortes Rokkas.
